What a 3-Tab Roof Replacement Looks Like
If we’re replacing a 3-tab roof on a typical single-family home in Butler, Warren, or Hamilton County, here’s what you can expect:
Day 1: Full Tear-Off and Deck Inspection
We remove every layer of existing shingles down to the wood decking — no overlays. This is where problems get found: rotted plywood or OSB from years of small leaks around vents, chimneys, and valleys, or sheathing that’s separating at seams. We show you every piece of damaged decking before we replace it. Most jobs need at least a sheet or two.
Day 1–2: Underlayment, Ice-and-Water Shield, and Flashing
We install synthetic underlayment across the whole roof (better tear resistance than felt), then ice-and-water shield in valleys, around penetrations, and along eaves per Ohio code. All flashing at chimneys, sidewalls, and vents gets replaced — old metal doesn’t get reused just because it’s still there.
Day 2: Architectural Shingle Install
Shingles go on with six nails per shingle (not the four that some crews cut corners with), starting from the eaves and working up. Ridge caps installed last. Cleanup and magnetic sweep of your yard happens the same day.
Follow-up: Photos and Warranty Registration
We take before/during/after photos of every job and register your manufacturer warranty (GAF or Owens Corning) so you’re on file if you ever need it.

My roof still looks fine — do I really need to replace it?
Fine from the ground doesn’t mean fine from the deck. We do a full inspection including attic ventilation, decking condition, and flashing integrity. If it’s got 5+ good years left, we’ll tell you. Not every inspection ends in a sales pitch.
Will my insurance help pay for it?
